Using Audacity Podcasts in my Blog

It is becoming more and more evident that podcasting is a skill that teachers are going to want to learn. Audacity is an open-source software that uses the Windows XP platform. Audacity was fairly straight forward. You will need a microphone, I am currently using my USB computer headset w/mic and have been happy with the results. Audacity will save your audio file as a .mp3 or.wav file.
To add an audio file, you will have to use some HTML. There may be another way, let me know!
I am going to make a few attempts today and hopefully you will hear a podcast for my Science 9-10 class!

The Human Network

You may have seen this commercial. Watching it makes me think of the possibilities that we have now and what might be for our children.

I am able to share the video with you is because someone shared it with the world online. We may catch the commercial on TV once in a while, but now that it is online, it can be accessed and discussed any time, any place. The world is communicating online. The world is learning online. The world is our classroom. This video has become a shared learning object. This is powerful and kids today are growing with this kind of access to information.

Most schools operate in a single geographic location to a specific group of people in a print-based environment. Now that we can communicate with people around the world instantly and access books, journals, presentations, videos, and more online, we should think of the world as our classroom. Our students understand this information age and expect to be on the front lines.

Finding My Blogging Voice

Starting today, I am going to make a very honest effort to start posting regularly to this blog.
I am uncovering interesting topics and technology suggestions daily that I would like to share with you. I would like to use this blog to test new things that I am learning.
This blog will also be an opportunity to examine the educational uses of blogging and other social networking programs. I have followed the amazing emergence of these new technologies through this school year and now plan to become a more active participant.
